Dear Ms. Delamare:

Allow me to introduce myself as Douaa Labdouni, a sophomore college student currently attending your Fall 2023 course, Writing for Engineering at CCNY. You likely will know me better throughout the course of the semester, but I would like to give you some brief information about who I am as a person. Being born and raised in East Harlem but living on Staten Island in more recent years makes me a full-blooded New Yorker, though my heritage and family roots are in Morocco. I am someone who takes my studies in college very seriously, striving to be as efficient as possible and allowing my boundaries to expand and bring in new opportunities in every aspect; academically, professionally, and socially. My character is empathetic and curious, and I consciously strive to be calm and reasonable throughout my everlasting encounters with life and its journey. I want you to see me as a humble and eager learner, responsible for the duties it will take for me to reach my goals.

Regarding my goals, I have plenty to look forward to. Some more short-term, which include getting my GPA back up to a 3.9 by being meticulous with my assignment and exam grades this semester. I learned from my mistakes last semester that caused my GPA to drop and now I’m actively striving to bring it back up. Another short-term goal of mine is to officially enroll in the Grove School of Engineering as a computer science major with a minor in business management, initiating the course of my intended career path. My long-term goals include graduating college debt-free with as many valuable lessons and experiences as possible, running my own business in the tech and software engineering realm that satisfies all aspects of my life, and growing into a mature and well-managed kind person.

With the rapid overcoming of Artificial Intelligence in the online world, I see that the field of software engineering is not going to be the same in 5 years as it is today. Almost everything, besides trivial, abstract and human-adjacent aspects of the world, will become semi to fully reliant on the works of Artificial Intelligence and automated technology. Software coding, a major component of computer science, will surely die out in my opinion. I imagine that by, instead of focusing on building code, researching more varying ways to implement artificial intelligence into the development of universal software we will achieve much greater developments in software engineering.

Sincerely,

Douaa Labdouni

Student
